EdFest SouthWest in association with The Element Network, are excited to announce their annual 'In Your Element' children's competition which this year is going to give you the chance to win a significant scholarship at the soon to be named Element School in Paignton (formerly Tower House School). This exciting award will give the lucky winner a school scholarship plus an annual package to help them grow and develop their passion.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

 

Are you EdFest's first YOUTH AMBASSADOR?  Are you a young environmentalist with a passion for protecting our planet? Would you love the opportunity to develop your passion further within a thriving and supportive school environment? If so, you could become EdFest's Youth Ambassador for 2017. We are looking for a young person who loves our planet, wants to help protect it and can use their passion to inspire other young people to get involved and make positive changes. 

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE AWARD

  • A generous scholarship to The Element School. 
  • A chance to have your essay published by The Conservation Project.*
  • A place on the National Marine Aquarium's 'Ocean Squad', 2018.
  • Annual subscription to the National Geographic Kids magazine and digital bundle.
  • Annual membership to the RSPB Wildlife Explorers programme.

HOW TO ENTER

  • Attend our festival 'Saving our planet one school at a time' on Friday 27th October 2017 between 09:30am & 17:00pm. 
  • Complete our QUESTION FORM. Hit the download button below to access the form. 
  • Complete our ACTIVITY WORKSHEET and collect as many stamps as possible from the activities listed. Hit the download button below to access the worksheet.
  • Attend our MAKE A PLEDGE activity and tell us what pledge you can make to help the world become a better place.
  • Write 250 WORDS on each of the following subjects:

    (1) An environmental issue that concerns you and how you have, or how you could help to make a difference.

    (2) Why you believe you are uniquely qualified to receive our Youth Ambassador Award 2017.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

 

 

  • All children must be accompanied by at least one adult and must have a parent's/guardian's permission to enter.
  • EdFest tickets must be booked in advance. You can book here.
  • Once you have booked your ticket, please register your interest to enter the competition by emailing kellyanne@edfestsouthwest.co.uk who will also be able to answer any queries you may have.
  • Please note that spaces may be limited on some of our workshops. To make sure you don't miss out, register your interest early by emailing kellyanne@edfestsouthwest.co.uk
  • Each of the 250 word written pieces must be emailed to kellyanne@edfestsouthwest.co.uk no later than 12.00pm on Thursday 26th October 2017.
  • Activity worksheets and question forms must be submitted to The Element school office by 17:00pm on Friday 27th October 2017.
  • The winning entry will be notified by Thursday 30th November 2017.
  • The awarded scholarship will run for the duration of your child's school career and is dependent upon a commitment to maintaining and developing the good reputation of the school both within individual departments and the school as a whole.

* The Conservation Project is a unique and innovative social enterprise, which aims to build a global online conservation community where individuals can write articles, share content and come up with their own ideas/projects to solving some of our most complex environmental problems.
