Our interactive workshops, brought to you by the EdFest education team, last approximately 1-1.5 hour and can be adapted to suit all key stages. Despite being one of today's major environmental catastrophes, plastic pollution is not yet a compulsory part of the National Curriculum. Why not let EdFest help you address this gap in a fun and engaging way!

Did you know that the UK uses approximately 15 million plastic bottles every day? It is estimated that approximately 70% of all plastic is used for ‘single use’ items such as bottles, food packaging and drinking straws. If we continue on this track, it is estimated that the world’s oceans will contain more plastic weight than fish by 2050.

This workshop will look at how plastic waste is detrimental to our oceans and the effects it has on wildlife. We'll also show your class ways in which they can reduce, reuse and recycle to help make a difference. Our workshop will finish by letting the children make a pledge and keep their very own photographs.

Our 'Plastic Pollution' workshop is available during term time only and can be delivered either during the school day or as an after school activity.

This workshop will emphasise the importance of looking after and protecting our coastlines and marine environment. The basis will be to teach the 'coastal code'; marine organisms, identification, distribution and protection and raise awareness of how we can negatively affect this environment through pollution and destruction. Children will be engaged through various ecology based activities and each session will finish by inspiring children to carry out a "2 minute beach clean", weigh the findings and equate that to the weight of various marine wildlife.

EdFest beach workshops are delivered between February and October. Look out for future dates!
